Thanks for the response, Phil!

We’ve got a pretty simple hierarchy so far… about 15 secondary sites pointing
to a single primary, and that pointing to the CAS itself. Because there has
been no need to offer different solutions for specific sites, all OSD
administration has been done on the CAS so far. The media generation procedure
is the only thing I’ve had any trouble with (apart from the dynamic media
question in the other thread).

Subject: [mssms] RE: Create Task Sequence Media on CAS

Is the Task Sequence itself set up on the CAS or on the Primary?

When you create Task Sequence media, the boot image is specifically tied to the
site the Task Sequence resides in. In SCCM 2007, redirecting it to another
site (such as a child primary) can be…tricky ☺ I haven’t had to try it yet in
ConfigMgr 2012.

Sanity Check:

When I run the “Create Task Sequence Media” wizard from a console connected our
CAS, the resultant media refuses to connect to the MP to get policy. When it
fails, the logs indicate problem with the certificate authority (we’re in
native mode):

AsyncCallback()
WINHTTP_CALLBACK_STATUS_SECURE_FAILURE Encountered
dwStatusInformationLength is 4
*lpvStatusInformation is 0x8
WINHTTP_CALLBACK_STATUS_FLAG_INVALID_CA is set
Error. Received 0x80072f8f from WinHttpSendRequest.
sending with winhttp failed; 80072f8f

When the exact same process is run from a console connected to the primary,
everything works just fine. (All other operations performed on the CAS work as
well.) I just want to make sure this is a known issue – or a ‘feature’ – and
not just me.

Cheers!
