That looks like sneaking (hacking?) de-dup into Win8.

As Mike just said, not available in 8.1, so I guess also not really in 8.0

Does that below also work with 8.1 though?

Yes, it should help, potentially significantly.  I actually use disk dedup on 
my Win8 machine on the volume holding my Client Hyper-V VMs and can see pretty 
substantial disk savings.
