:) I was right across the street, but ended up running about 10 miles a day
through town.

I love TechEd and have been part of it for years. For those that have never
attended but have attended MMS, it will be eye-opening. Since the ex-TechEd
folks started running MMS a few years back, there will be a bunch of
similarities. But, as many have noted, the content is more future-focused
instead of targeted toward what you’re doing right now.

TechEd last year wasn’t bad in NO. I got a hotel 5 blocks away just a few weeks
before it started. The walk wasn’t bad at all, and it was at the good end of
the convention center.

The distant hotels are about 175 a night.

For 500 a night you can get a room with 2 queen beds at the westin, 4 seasons,
or Hilton right next to the convention center…

If you can find a roommate, that’s only 250 a night. And, you won’t have to
spend hundreds of dollars and many hours to take a cab.

I’m certainly going to give clear and resounding feedback about the location
for TechEd being sucky… Can’t say I’ve ever had trouble at MMS is Las Vegas
finding a place to stay that wasn’t a 30 minute commute.

I hope that helps,

Nash

Assuming airbnb isn’t working out, as I just asked about one and the answer
was: can’t tell yet (dooh), what’s the alternative?

A distant hotel and getting stuck in traffic twice a day?

How bad would that be?

Never was in Houston (or Texas), but you’re saying it’s bad choice in the first
place?

Honestly, if TechEd was in another place that's not logistically retarded for
these type of events I might of gone. My team and I are going to give IT/Dev
connections a shot this year. Hopefully we get similar value to MMS. I know
this isn't helpful to this thread. Just venting, again. :)

Yeah, all the airbnb stuff close to the hotel listed by “Kozi Corporate
Housing” is only for month long stays. They advertise 5 day minimums, but if
you aren’t booking a month they will only let you book at the last second.

I think that area is fine. I was looking an apt there and a co-worker did end
up getting one there. There's a free bus that runs in the area.

Still not sure if I want to go, but if I do, I figured that the hotels listed
with the convention are already booked or too expensive or both…

But an apartment within the yellow line here should be ok right?

The distance is rather close, around 1 mile, so walking could be ok to, right?

If people walk in Houston :)

Otherwise it’s a really short cab drive or maybe bus ride?
