On clients it's Bitlocker and the Windows Firewall (GPO)....
On servers it's Windows Firewall (GPO) and...for our outside firewalls we have
McAfee....and boy...do our Network Guys love that one (not)....

I agree on the suite perpective....but look around what MS gives you out of the
box....you "own" more than you might realize...and yes...it might not be
perfect...but at least it has better integration features than some of the
(expensive) 3rd party products....

SCEP is AV only though, right? What do you do to manage your firewall and disk
encryption? I don’t appreciate the salad bar approach to security - a little
bit from here a little bit from there. I want a suite to manage all the
pieces. I suppose that is why McAfee wins the magic quadrant comparisons. I
hate McAfee as much as the next guy, but I don’t see anything better on the
market. There have been genuine performance improvements since Intel took
ownership.

Why would you do that...?
We only do the daily quick scan on all of our machines. Any other data, if
infected, will be catched while it's being touched...

Oh I forgot something else.... Try doing a full scan again a 10 TB SAN using
SCEP. After scanning for 2 weeks and it not being complete I gave up.

EP has detected worms and such like when switched on for the first time at
various customers I visit. I visited one that was totally infested (XP, Mcafee,
DATS maintained) with an atypical worm, customer was impressed with how it was
removed from the network entirely as we rolled EP out.

Using it for 2+ years now and we had some outbreaks but were caught properly by
FEP/SCEP..

Oh...and the Google (false positive) block thingy we had as well... :) Which
was at least harmless compared to the Office apps booboo which we experienced
with McAfee several years ago...(excel.exe removed....thank god for MSI repairs
back then)

Overall we're happy with it.....

Have you had a virus outbreak and had to recover from it?

Somehow my server admins are under the impression that SCEP is never used in an
enterprise and especially not on servers.

Anyone here with a large (1,000 plus servers) willing to speak to them?

email me at todd.hems...@exterran.com if so. Thanks!!!
