I also have been using the offline MSI, pushed via SCCM/WSUS, as far back as version 30.0.1599.66 and it works great. It is nice because if there is a local/non-admin install on the pc the Chrome MSI will detect it and overwrite it with a system install without making any adverse changes to users Chrome profile. Google also has available group policy ADM & ADMX templates, and associated documentation (linked below), for managing all the different Google apps and update service. I use the group policy settings to control the behavior of the Google Update service.
