I could use all of you guys' (and gals if any) help. I've been working in network security for the past 7 or so years. It's always bugged me that consumer wireless network products with all the security turned on can be hacked easily (I know because I've done it to become familiar with the security concepts). I've always wanted to find a way to secure it.
A couple weeks back I was asking you guys about if you guys knew of a tcp tunnel because of GRE packet problems. Well, I can't remember who it was that started me on the right path but now we have a fully functional client and server and need beta testers. Ehsan just finished writing an awesome client that runs a VPN connection to my servers. Everything leaving the local computer goes through the tunnel and is put on the Internet when it pops out of the tunnel on the server. That means everything hopping the wireless is secured. Beta is free. You can sign up and you won't be charged (use BETA in the promo box) until we go live. If you don't want to go past beta (you don't have a need or whatever), that's cool. We really just need beta testers at this point. We'll be happy to give serious beta users free accounts for a year or so after we go live. Right now the price looks like $15/mo. There are a lot of home wireless users and poeple that use wifi hotspots that this is targeted for. The way you can make money at it when we go live is we set you up with your own promotional code, whenever someone signs up with a promo code the $15 setup fee is waived, so you are saving them money (that's why they remember to put the code in). For every account that signs up with your promo code you get $5 a month as long as their account stays active. If you are a heavy wifi user you probably bump into other users all the time and could recommend the product to them. One of the biggest marketing spots we've found is hotels that have wifi for their customers. It's a perfect opportunity to soft-sell the product and make $5/mo per customer.
