Title: Html syntax (ot)

Hello,

I’m writing and application that should have a User Interface similar to Microsoft Publisher or MS PowerPoint (yet much simpler). I’ve found a strange behaviour (at least from my point of view) regarding how a ‘page’  is shown on the Window and on the printer.

For example, let’s consider MS Word or MS Publisher. I select an A4 page in the page setup. The actual  page width should be 21 cm (this is in fact indicated in the page setup dialog box). However, if I use a ruler to measure the resulting page width on the screen I get 23.3 cm.

The case of MS PowerPoint is also strange. When you select an A4 page in the printer setup dialob box, it shows a page width of 19 cm ?? After applying these settings, I get 21 cm with my ruler on the screen …

I guess this has to do with the physical differences between a screen & a printer … Can anyone point me to a website or article with information about this issue?

Thanks,

Carlos

Can someone point me to a website that will inform me if it is acceptable to use uppercase for my html syntax?  If I need to change it, nows the time.

Thanks.
