Not using any boot manager software by any chance? If so, it might be that
it is replacing the boot files with older versions (this is assuming that
the boot files write the boot screen of course which I don't know either
way)

Here's a strange problem:
NT4.0 Server with SP6a - or is it? Winver tells me I'm at 6a, but when I
boot, the startup screen tells me I'm at SP4. So I reload SP6a, and it's
okay for the first reboot. But if I ever reboot again, it tells me I'm at
SP4. Anyone ever seen this before?
