Speaking of swapping Hard Drives... if I was to upgrade a production server (NT4_SP6a) with a new motherboard and CPU would the Sysprep utility be the first step (after backups) followed by swapping Hard Drives? Or is there a 'simpler' way? Cheers Shaun

I think I know what you are trying to ask now. Do you want to swap the Hard drive to another computer with a different hardware config? You could get it to VGA mode maybe, but it won't do any good if you can not boot the disk at all. Is there something in the desktop that you need? If so you can try to get to a command prompt and copy the file off.
