About your problems; I extracted games ROMs from KCGs without problem.
It is very easy to use:
GAMECUT (source drive) (destination drive).
Example (KGC #1 in drive D):
A:\>GAMECUT D: H:
(You should read this message)
Konami game cutter ver 0.05
Drive d: Game collection vol.1
Drive h:
GC_MAJYO.SCK -- ok
GC_PENGN.SCK -- ok
GC_YIEAR.SCK -- ok
GC_YIEGA.SCK -- ok
