Sound easier? Well, could you make a WordPro for MSX that
could use truetype fonts, amigo? ;) X-DDD
Seriously, almost anything could be useful.

Lack of ambition?
Because there isn't any technique widely spread on MSX?
Musicians are used to write the music they invent. As far as I
remind good musicians in MSX are so by making what I call
'fantasy' musics or covers from MSX (mainly Konami) hits.
And, to be honest, it doesn't seem to me that MSX musicians
like to cultivate styles farther than those of their own.

Although FM and MusMod don't allow great musical
'delicatessens', for instance, I remind a Genic PictureDisk #9 in
which there was a demo from Mi-Chi with a nice cover from
'Hotel California'. Also, on Ruby and Jade (Aurora) the
soundtrack remembers me somewhat like Latin Jazz.
Surely, as usual on MSX, I think limitation is on the willingness
rather than on the technical possibilities of ICs.

Dance and Spaghetti-Disco (now named Italo) could suit nice
on Moonsound. But also there should have been experiments in
any musical style: let it be rock, salsa, rumba, pop, beat, new
age, funky... Why not? Why just techno, trance, house, and
few dance tunes?

However, there is a GREAT (and succesful!) experiment for
Moonsound called Alto, which was developed by Near Dark a
year ago or so. It consisted in some 'doom' (it is a music style)
musics from groups such as The Gathering and Amorphis,
mainly.
The musical result was quite good. The matter are electric
guitars. At Moonsound they are nice, but not great.
I'd like to see an Alto 2 with 'Surfing with the alien' (Joe Satriani)
or Thunderstruck (AC/DC), for example. :)
