 It is the otherway around: TCP and UDP are on top of IP, IP is send
 through PPP, PPP is setup and controlled by IPCP and is transmitted
 through HDLC-like framing for serial lines.

 the 802.3 layer is the transport protocol for IP/IPX over ethernet,
 not serial lines.

So, there is nothing between IP and PPP!
