Creative Labs sells Matsushita (Panasonic) CD-ROM
and CD-R/CD-RW drives under their own brand as well
Samsung and Goldstar drives. If you see a label with a model number
such as CR-XXX or CW-XXXX on a Creative drive, It's surely a
Matsushita drive, even if it replies it's a Creative thru the IDE ID ...

Take a time to test Your CD-Rom drive on a PC computer. It's optical
mechanism may
be defective ...
Also, try playing a music CD on it and see if you can hear the audio ...
If you suceed, the drive is
O.K.

Pedro said you may have problems with CD-R/CD-RW in old drives. It
happens due to a
low laser reflection level on the recent CD-R/CD-RW discs ... It's a
pity, but older drives
can´t read such discs ...

 I hope I helped ...

Cya MSXers ...
