Here in Brazil I noticed some time ago (in 1995) that a
Brazilian MSX mailing list would be a nice way to talk in our mother
tongue about MSX without disturbing the international mailing list.
Maybe our list was the first non-English MSX mailing list.

I founded MSXBR-L in 1995, and after 6 years (and a lot of
problems with mail servers =)), we've got 160 users, and it had been
wonderful. I can say that the MSXBR-L had done much more for the
Brazilian MSX community than I have ever imagined. But less than 20% of
the MSXBR-L subscribers also reads the international MSX mailing list.

Although the MSXBR-L is the oldest and the major Brazilian
mailing list, we've more Brazilian MSX mailing lists, like MSX-All,
MSXSite, MSX-RJ, etc. Many countries (Spain and Japan) have their own
MSX mailing list. Yep, it's so easy nowadays, with Yahoo!Groups...

I think a Dutch MSX mailing list would be very good for the
Dutch MSX community, like the Brazilian and Spanish ones. The
international MSX mailing list (the eldest, founded by Wiebe Weikamp,
Roderik Muit, Stefan Boer and myself in 1994) can be a great way of
talking about MSX overseas, but there are questions that would be
answered better by people from our own country.

The thought of only one mailing list is a very selfish one. Not
everybody speaks English. BTW, very few can speak and write English
correctly. Does anyone have asked why only Kuniji Ikeda, from Japan, is
the lonely guy from the Land Of The Rising Sun who writes English mails?
Why not more Japanese MSX-freaks talk in English here, about MSX?

As I've said above, maybe we have 20 or 30 Brazilian members in
the international MSX mailing list. And it isn't fair to place 130 users
outside the MSX world, only 'cause they can't write and/or read in
English. We lives in the same planet, but we still have our own
countries, speak different languages, and prefer different football
national teams. =)

So, think with care about a Dutch mailing list.

        Just my 2 cents...

        ByE!
