i used a comms prog on each PC, in one i used ATA (auto answer) and on the other (ATD) (dial, no number)...

Hello! I think it's my first posting to this list...
Some modems can be connected directly. I tested it with 2 pcs and USR modems (one internal and other external). Just plug the cord to the line jack on both modems.
