It looks like this error happens when the net-installer switches to the latest msys. I also see this problem with the 1.5.6 end-user installer on my Vista x64 machines. I've bisected this to commit 9ff65cc3, which patches msys-1.0.dll. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to actually debug the problem yet. As a temporary workaround, I'm using the old (upstream, unpatched) msys-1.0.dll from msys-1.0.11-20071204 for now. Peter Harris
