We are looking for students working in machine translation who would
like to show their translation prototype at a user-oriented
conference. The systems can be trained with either the CLEF-IP
collection (patents in French, German and English) or the NTCIR
collection (patents in Chinese, Japanese and English). The Programme
Committee will select at least one group for the presentation in the
plenary session, and invite others to present their results with a
poster in the Exhibition (including the possibility to show a demo).
These experimental results will be evaluated by an Intellectual
Property (IP) expert, who will present his/her evaluation at the IRF
Symposium (http://www.irfs.at).

The translation task consists of translating into English a small set
of paragraphs extracted from patent documents. The paragraphs may be
in French, German, Chinese or Japanese and may represent either parts
of patent descriptions or actual claims. The evaluation will be
informally done by patent experts by comparing translations provided
by different systems.

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY FOR CLEF-IP AND NTCIR-MT PARTICIPANTS
TO LEVERAGE THEIR RESEARCH WORK BY RAISING THEIR VISIBILITY TOWARDS
INDUSTRY.
