The OpenCLIR (Open Cross Language Information Retrieval) challenge is open to all NLP practitioners, and registration has been extended until November 30. Those that have registered and signed data agreements have already been provided with their MT and ASR training data. For those of you who missed the first registration round, it's not too late. Please visit the following page <https://www.nist.gov/itl/iad/mig/openclir-evaluation> that provides background on the challenge, the evaluation plan, prizes and a link to registration: https://www.nist.gov/itl/iad/mig/openclir-evaluation
The goal of the OpenCLIR evaluation is to develop methods to locate text and speech content in a variety of genres from lower-resource languages, using English queries. Registrants may join the text track, speech track or both. The OpenCLIR challenge was developed out of IARPA's MATERIAL program <https://www.iarpa.gov/index.php/research-programs/material>, but incorporates a simpler, smaller scale evaluation. Feel free to spread the word to interested NLP practitioners! Carl Rubino, Ph.D. Program Manager, IARPA MS-3E109; 301-851-7563
