I'm not sure but I think all league clubs are committed to fielding a 
team. By the way, have you noticed how policies United implemented 
first and which were heavily criticised at the time are now generally 
accepted? When we first played a weakened team in the league cup, we 
were "destroying football." Now all the big teams do it.  Even 
Liverpool, who see the league cup as their main Euro lifeline, 
fielded a weaker side than normal last night ("How can you tell?", 
you ask). It's some comfort that it backfired big time for them, as 
did the Bitters' campaign at Spurs.
