Deborah,

I am intrigued by the phrase "Accent modification" every time I read one of your messages.

To me, so long as it is not impeding communication, an accent can be an important part of a bilingual person's identity. It can tell others about where I am from and give them hints about my broader language proficiency that can subsequently affect the way they modify the way they talk to me, which ultimately fosters greater communication.

Can you explain a little further about your rationale for wanting to modify people's accents?
