We adopted our son at the age of 8 months from Mexico. My husband is
fluent in Spanish but also English. I had always thought he would speak
to our child in Spanish, I in English, and we also did Sign Language
with our son. Well, my husband was not comfortable with this so Spanish
fell on the wayside. Now, at 4.75yrs. my son is really starting to show
an interest in learning Spanish. The fact that we live in El Paso, TX.
probably plays a role in that. How would you suggest we progress. Right
now we pretty much wait until he asks us how to say something in
Spanish and then practice it. He does like "Dora" and "Go, Diego, Go!".

He has kept some of his Sign Language but I am also trying to keep that
intact. He has a riding instructor who knows some Apache (our son's
birthfather was reportedly Apache) so he is also learning a bit of that.
