Hallo everybody,

i am a very inactive member of this group. I read sometimes your
messages but i really don't write that much. The last time was maybe 2
years ago! and the first time almost 6 years ago!! You see, inactive
but an old member.

I will not repeat my story (i've made a copy-paste of one of my last
mails! look below) i would like to say that we tried hard to grow up
our children with three languages (spanish, dutch and persian) and
with my youngest child (a beautiful 3 yr old girl) it's going ok. But
with my oldest boy (6 yrs old) it's not that good. When i asked your
advise, somebody (one of the administrators i guess) told me that what
i was doing was ok, and that that worked really good in NORMAL
CIRCUMSTANCES .... now, he was totally right. Since that moment i
thought... maybe there is something that is not "normal" but, yea, i
didn't think more over. He was just 4!!!

Today (actually since 5 months ago) i know that he has ADD and
language is (could be, not always happens) one of the difficult
abilities that they can manage. We are focusing in dutch but his
spanish is good. However, persian is not that good and we decided to
stop eventually, my DH speaks to him but just sometimes.

Now, thank you for reading me.

Ivette Lopez

Ps. here my last mail:

hello!

i am a memebr of this group since my first child was born, and that
is 4 years ago! now i have also a beutiful daughter - 15 months-.
Sometimes i write something to share or to ask. It's a long time
since the last time... anyway.

My story in short... I am mexican, my husband is iranian and we live
in the netherlands. Arash -the oldest- speaks the three languages
BUT none of them "perfectly" and i mean for his age. Until some
months ago that was not a problem but now he is going to the school
and the teacher says that he is not at the same level than other
children, he is the only one in his group with this "problem" (!!!).
She says that he can't respond to the others because of the language
and she advises we speak just dutch at home... my son doesn't want
that at all!! he is used to sepak spanish with me, farsi with his
father and dutch with the rest... i think i am getting crazy. I know
he has to improve his dutch that's why he goes to the language
therapy, swimming lessons, judo lessons, i mean, i try to involve
him more and more outside with the duth language... not enough.

If somebody has/had the same situation, let me know and tell me what
you have done please!!

Greetings and have a nice week.
