----------------------------------------------------------- From: Jigs Message 1 in Discussion Microsoft has introduced an incredible amount of new features and functionality in ASP.NET 2.0, much more than can be covered in a single article. In fact, the Microsoft ASP.NET Developer Center has an entire series of articles on new ASP.NET 2.0 features. Some of these new features are very pertinent to a discussion of the ASP.NET Starter Kits, because the new ASP.NET 2.0 features make large blocks of reference code from the starter kits no longer necessary if you were to build an identical solution. If the goal of ASP.NET 2.0 were to be summed up in a sentence, it would have to be, "to increase developer productivity, and dramatically reduce the lines of code that developers have to write." As you will see in detail in this section, many common tasks can be accomplished with very few lines of code, or even no code at all. Of course, there is still declarative markup and XML configuration that needs to be written, but you can use the new Visual Web Designer and ASP.NET Configuration tools in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 to effortlessly create most of the correct markup and XML configuration settings. The remainder of this article will introduce you to several features that have been added to ASP.NET 2.0, and then will contrast the ASP.NET 2.0 functionality with the implementations provided in the starter kit reference applications http://msdn.microsoft.com/vbasic/default.aspx?pull=/library/en-us/dnvs05/html/SKinVS2005.asp Regards, Jignesh Desai http://www.dotnetJiNi.com ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/mumbaiusergroup/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
