You can request 64-bit drivers from the vendor and they will make available if possible. I had to request them via email for Windows XP Pro 64. I too am using a SCR301 with 64-bit SLED 10.0.1. I have yet to request the 64-bit driver but will do so soon.

You can use any reader listed on [1] in the "Supported CCID readers" list and use it with the driver available on the same page. Other drivers are also working fine on 64-bits systems maybe but not with the SCM 301 you have. I am afraid you will have to buy a new reader.
