I find this to be a singularly odd way of authenticating a VPN. If you've got the dang smartcard, drop some certs on it and dump this hokey OTP-wannabe nonsense.

'Fraid I won't be able to help without knowing the details of the passcode generation. Which is likely an alg. the vendor won't release to you.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for the mail.

I am still not understanding Coolkey well, so please bear with me..

I use the apani VPN client on fedora core. I need to login to our VPN using
a http port on the local machine (http://localhost:<port>)

To login, I need to enter the 'pass-code'. To generate this 'pass-code',
I currently use a stand-alone calculator-like device. This device has the
activcard inserted. When I enter some PIN on this device, it generates
the 'pass-code'.

Instead of this calculator-like device, I am trying to use the 'SCM-241'
PCMCIA smart card reader so that I can always keep it plugged
into the laptop.

Now, how can I enter the PIN and generate the 'pass-code' on this
SCM-241 card reader? On Windows, my colleagues use 'activcard gold'
software.

Can I do the same thing using 'libcoolkeypk11'? If you know of any
document on how to generate the pass-code using Coolkey, would you
please let me know?

Thanks,

Coolkey provides a PKCS#11 module (libcoolkeypk11). If your VPN client
will load PKCS#11 modules, you can replace the ActivIdentity PKCS#11
module with that library and all should work correctly.
