Hi,
First : this list is kind of dead, at least you won't have too many mail
from it.
Then about you interface, I guess it is the Line 6 GuitarPort.
I could not find whether it is Class Compliant or not.  (Some interfaces
require a driver and will only work on Windows/MAc)

You could try to connect it to various USB ports on you PC and
- type "dmesg" in a console just after having plugged the USB, to see what
is recognized.
- If the console is too alien for you.  Launch QJack (graphical application
that should be already installed) ; Go to "Setup ..." and look at the
"Interface" drop down list if you can see your interface.

That would be a start.

Note that until your interface is recognized the distributions or
applications you are using won't make a difference.  Let's first solve that
