ARs are important and should be used. But the performer information is important for a classical work, second to the composer. Since MBz doesn't (yet?) allow any mapping from ARs to ripped music tags*, the track title seems to be the best place to put the performer info to make sure it's available in ripped music. (Maybe there's another explanation too, but this is why I vouch for it.)
in contemporary music, at least, the most compelling reason is that it shows the definition between a normal credit (eg, 2nd engineer from left) in the liner notes, and a featuring credit on the track listing. even if ARs were able to be transposed to track titles via picard, we'd still need to have performer info in track titles if that is indeed the way it was presented. or failing that, have a 'featuring' flag on ARs such that they were transposed, and the other things not, but since the "TrackName (Role - ArtistName)" differs so much, i think that would be near impossible to match the tracklisting every time. _______________________________________________ Musicbrainz-style mailing list [email protected] http://lists.musicbrainz.org/mailman/listinfo/musicbrainz-style
