Our list of countries comes from an ISO standard:

https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2

Our only user-assigned code is XW, for [Worldwide].

As a result, I'm not sure how possible it is to add countries. This may
require more than a simple RFC-then-add-it-to-the-DB, and might not
happen for a while as a result, even if we do decide it's a good idea.

However, I'm otherwise in support; historical countries would be nice to
get into MB. There are a number of others, including
http://tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/MBS-667 (and I know reosarevok has
been asking about adding Archbishopric of Salzburg forever too :P).
