> 2. Don't merge two recordings of the same live performance if they were > recorded by different people. Hummm... and if they were recording by the same artist, but at the different time and/or place? And even at the same day and place, but at a different show/hour/minute? And what is "the same live performance"? And generally "the same performance"? I think, when a song is performed by two different people, them can't be "the same performance" by definition. Maybe, you'd mean "the same title"? Too obscure... I think, this item is obvious and should be excluded. > 6. Do merge recordings if the only difference between them is in the > length of silence at the beginning or end. I'm absolutely agree with this, but then a recording in MB should have, besides a length, an attribute "net length". See my ticket http://tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/MBS-3994 And also it is very hard to define a length of silence when a recording has a fade-out ending and/or fade-in beginning - this length will strongly depend on the ear of an editor ;-)) . ----- Valeriy Orlov (RocknRollArchivist) -- View this message in context: http://musicbrainz.1054305.n4.nabble.com/RFC-Improve-Guidelines-on-Merging-Recordings-tp4644561p4644921.html Sent from the MusicBrainz - Style mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ MusicBrainz-style mailing list MusicBrainz-style@lists.musicbrainz.org http://lists.musicbrainz.org/mailman/listinfo/musicbrainz-style
