I must admit I like the latter suggestion more; making Works for books. That'll also allow us to properly link author/"lyricist" - and allow us to link book works to other works that may set part of the book to music. (I know this has been done a fair bit with material from Tolkien's works.) This would also be useful for religious texts (Qu'ran, Bible, the... eh, Jewish one), which also aren't uncommon to have been set to music. (I added a release the other day, where the artist recited a passage of the (Danish) Bible on one of the tracks.)
