Dave,  I agree with you.  It is intriguing how this formula happened in
the first place.  You may want to contact Peter Barnes.   He will give you
the details.

Fixing would mean lowering the amount of pay someone has been paying, which
is not something I would like to see happen.  In New York city the fees for
musicians has almost caught up with the fees for callers.
