We know that, and that's fixed in 0.14.

MPD 0.14 is in sid, and you can pick the .deb from
packages.debian.org:

 http://packages.debian.org/sid/mpd

We really recommend not using 0.13 anymore, because the developers who
were responsible for 0.13 have left the project.  Unfortunately, lenny
is in freeze, and will not get 0.14...
