As stated in the patch, Ubuntu Lucid (which is still supported Ubuntu
release) has libmpdclient 2.1 in it.  This means that its users cannot
build new MPCs, without also building libmpdclient.  The code needed
to support libmpdclient 2.1 is rather simple, so I think the cost is
negligible, and it makes life easier at least for me. ;)
