Hi folks,

Well, I'm still here but unfortunately for the last few months I simply
haven't found time to continue running Mutopia.

I have run things pretty much on my own for eleven years now and I think
the time has come to hand over to a new team, if people are interested
in continuing Mutopia.

I think that the idea behind Mutopia was a good one, and I think that
maintaining an archive of LilyPond scores separate from IMSLP is
something that is worth doing.

So where to we go from here? Perhaps I can invite those interested in
helping to form a new team to contact me (on or off list) and we can
start a discussion as to whether Mutopia should continue as is, whether
it should close, or whether it should be merged into a new project.

Some things that need to be addressed:
- Many scores use an old version of LilyPond
- Some scores use "old" licenses
- Website is old-fashioned and only available in English
- Website backend/tools are an uneasy mixture of Perl and Java
- Adding and updating files is a very manual process
- Mutopia SVN archive is not publicly accessible

On the positive side:
- Over 1600 scores in high-quality LilyPond typesetting with source
available
- Almost all scores PD, CC-A or CC-ASA licensed
- People still interested in contributing

Please do let me know what you think.

Regards,

Chris
