Is it really necessary to completely redesign the site? The current
system seems to have worked well for many years and it seems to me that
the main problem is the lack of time invested into it recently. I really
like the simplicity of the current system.

The import into git opens the possibility to check in things from the
contributions mail after only a very short review into a testing branch.
Then many people can have a look at it, some people in the team make sure
that it complies with the style guidelines and after some review they send
it back to you to be imported into the main git repo.
Just an idea that might not at all work well in practice.

I really like this property of Mutopia.
I'm sure that Mutopia will go forward given that enough people are interested
in it.
