Did he also complain to Microsoft (who is the real culprit)? If many customers complain to Microsoft, then perhaps Microsoft will change. But if other MUA's start to implement their non-standard and useless features, this will never happen. IMHO, Mutt should not be bloated with Thread-Index support. For those who really want this feature, a 3rd-party patch could be written and maintained by these users.
