#3587: Return value of strchr is not properly handled

A bug originally reported in [1] has been seen when working with corrupted
messages. I'm unfortunately unable to reproduce the failure, but I found
that strchr return value was not properly handled when the function
returned NULL in sendlib.c.
I created a patch (attached) and believe it fixes the issue.
