The patch does seem to be in widespread use for some time. It's in the
Debian mutt package too.
Ideally the mutt developers will jump in and comment why it hasn't been
committed. I would guess there are two obstacles:
1. Adding options to configure the name and description seems overkill.
It is probably fine to just have the the name and description hardcoded to
"signature.asc" and "Digital signature".
2. The patch doesn't cover all the signing code paths. sign_message()
[crypt-gpgme.c] should probably be covered by this too. Don't know about
SMIME.
me, brendan, vincent, would one of you care to comment about what changes
would be needed to get this committed?
