After looking at the backtrace more closely, the hang seems to be due to
the fact that Mutt calls a function that is not re-entrant in the signal
handler: the signal occurred while the process was in {{{calloc()}}}, and
the signal handler {{{exit_handler()}}} calls a gettext function for
translation, which does a {{{malloc()}}}, which is not re-entrant.
