This patch looks incorrect (or obsolete) because {{{main.c}}} currently
has:
{{{
extern unsigned char cc_version[];
extern unsigned char cc_cflags[];
extern unsigned char configure_options[];
}}}
I think this was bug #3926, now fixed.
