Mutt 1.13.0 problem with German umlauts

Hi,

since compiling and installing Mutt 1.13.0, German Umlauts, for instance in the 
subject line are not
displayed correctly.
Before, I used Mutt 1.9.4, that came with ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS without problems.
Using  --enable-locales-fix did not help.
