All true, but there is one good thing about them: when there's a program
invocation using the long-form options, it's usually obvious at a glance
what each option does even for a strange program that you've never seen
before.  With the single letter options, you need to look it up in the
man page or program -h.

For the uses of Mutt, this isn't much of a gain.

I'm personally neutral, I wouldn't hate having long options available
but I also wouldn't use them myself.
