Ok, there's two potential reasons why you can get a copy of a message
to yourself. Based on what you said, I can't tell which of these is
happening.

First, you have to understand that most mailing list servers will send a
copy of the message back to the sender. This is beyond the control of
Mutt. If you want to filter those emails out, you need to use a proper
filtering tool (like for any list emails). Some mailing list servers
also allow you to set an option so that the sender doesn't get a copy of
their own message.

Then secondly, there is a chance that you haven't told Mutt what are
your own email addresses. By default, Mutt will not send an email to
your own address unless you explicitly tell it to do that. That means,
that when doing a group-reply or list-reply, Mutt will look at the list
of addresses and remove those that are your own. So a properly
configured Mutt will not include your own address(es) when you do either
a group-reply or list-reply.

The way you tell Mutt which addresses are your own is by setting the
$alternates Mutt variable.

There's no save-thread (at least I didn't find it in 1.1.9), but there is
a tag-thread function. With that and "save tagged" it should be easy
enough to create a macro of your own for this.

Hope this helps,
