Funnily enough I installed the lbdb last week (how did I go so long without
it, what a great bit of software!). If I'm to understand the tool fully I
think you'll find that, yes, you are loosing the ability to do queries using
those tools. However, that might well be what you want. For example, my lbdb
installation only does lookups using the inmail and gpg modules (actually it
also does lookups in my JPilot copy of my Palm address DB using a module I
wrote, I've submitted to Roland for inclusion in lbdb).

BTW, if there are any emacs using lbdb users out there I've written an emacs
lbdb interface. It's on my web pages.
