Scoring

I'm fairly new to mutt and don't understand how the scoring mechanism
works. I can score my own address, say

        score '~f uzscd5@uni-bonn\.de' =9999

But how do I set up the rest of the score file properly ? What's
wrong with

        score '~f Benji\ Fisher' 500
        score '~f gmxred@gmx\.net' =-9999
        score '~f [Tt]op[Ss]hop' = -9999
        score '~s [Nn]ews[Ll]etter |
        ~f [Nn]ews[Ll]etter' =-9999

? Maybe someone could correct me here...
