line continuation & comments

Hi,

I just recognized that

# bla \
mailboxes \
    =bla \
    =more \
    !

will disable all the lines! So the line continuation
seems to be also valid at the end of comment lines.
Is this a bug or a feature? -- Is this documented
somewhere?
