I do this quite often, to make special purpose, short-lived
mailboxes apropos to a particular discussion.
An easy (manual) way is to <tag-thread> and then do <tag-prefix>
<save> to save all the tagged messages. In my setup that esc-t
to for tag-thread, ; for tag-prefix, and s to save:
\et;s=new-folder
is the full command.
