% Hi All,

Hello!

% In mutt, after I create a message, when I press 'y' to send it
% Mutt asks me that ' -so-so- file has been modified. Update encoding(yes/no)'.

mutt checks the timestamps to see how the file is doing, and when it's
not what is expected (I don't know the full logic) mutt figures the file
has been modified. This is most commonly caused by your working disk
being NFS mounted and the clocks on your machine and your NFS server
not matching up; even a few seconds is sufficient drift.

This comes up not infrequently. If you search for "update encoding" in
the archives I'm sure you'll find it.

% Either I click y or n, the message is sent. No problems with that. But I want
% to know which variable I have to set to stop Mutt asking me this.

It's not a mutt variable; it's just your clock (or your server's). A
good way to take care of it is via ntp, the network time protocol.

% Please help.
