At my previous job it took me a while to get fetchmail working with Exchange. It has been a while, but I seem to remember that my username included the Windows Workgroup in it: "\\WORKGROUP\USERNAME". Or maybe after escaping the backslashes it was this: \\\\WORKGROUP\\USERNAME . Try something like that. Omen -- Remember, UNIX spelled backwards is XINU.
