- From the CUPS manual:

    CUPS provides both the System V (lp(1)) and Berkeley (lpr(1))
    printing commands.

So, yes, mutt can print with that kind of setup, the same way 
everything else prints with that kind of setup: using the standardized 
lp/lpr interface.
